Wedding Planning Tips

Wedding planning isn’t a race to the finish line—it’s a journey meant to be enjoyed. While it’s natural to feel the pressure of decisions, deadlines, and endless to-do lists, it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. With the right mindset (and a few practical tips), you can navigate the process with more calm, clarity, and even excitement. Here are some ways to make the most of the wedding planning journey—without the stress taking over.

1. Dates should come first.

Don’t let wedding planning get in the way of still enjoying each other’s company. Quality time
together shouldn’t be something you deem yourselves worthy of (or unworthy) of. Building your
connection and keeping the love alive is always a great idea. The better connected you are, the more
positive your wedding planning experience will be.

2. More stuff doesn’t equal a better wedding.

Do you shop when you feel sad or unhappy, hoping that the shopping will make you feel happy? Or
do you shop when you’re happy to celebrate and feel happier. Do you tell yourself stories about how
spending more on your wedding will impress others and make you feel more confident about your
wedding day?

Going into debt to plan the wedding of your dreams is likely to cause stress in your life. You don’t
need “all the things” to have the best wedding day on earth. The most important thing is that your
wedding day reflects the two of you and flows smoothly – managing more on your wedding day may
not result in a better wedding. You deserve a day that flows beautifully and that doesn’t necessarily
come from having “all the things” on your wedding day.

3. What works for others’ weddings might not be the best fit for the two of you.

Trust your own personal vision for your wedding day — make space and time to explore which elements will best reflect your love story and how you love to elebrate with family and friends.

It can be tempting to ignore your own priorities to plan wedding day elements that don’t necessarily resonate with both of you – perhaps there is something you have seen at someone else’s celebration you are tempted to include elements that a family member or friend really things you MUST have. Avoid the temptation to please others or add wedding day details that don’t reflect you both authentically.

4. Wedding planning alone is lonely.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s great to figure things out on your own, but  ometimes support makes you feel less lonely planning your wedding.Maintaining your physical and mental health when planning your wedding is always a great thing. So surround yourself with people who can support you. Of course, it is important to surround yourselves with the RIGHT people – people who will actively listen to you and support you positively along the wedding planning journey.
